The orchestra had been invited by the Institute of Chinese Studies(ICS) to perform
on the 14th day of Chinese New Year as part of the 新春晚会 event. The event began at 8.00pm sharp at the Block A Heritage Hall of University Tunku Abdul Rahman. A total of more than 200 students and lecturers from the ICS attended the event.
Armed with theirs respective instruments, a total of 19 performers from the orchestra put on their best performance for the night.
Conducted by Ms.Vicky Wong and lead by President of the orchestra, Mr. Tan Tay Yee.
The performance began under the precise gestures of Ms.Vicky and a twirl of the baton sprung up the hall with music. Flourishing in the air were the three songs: Flower drums of fung yang; 风阳花鼓, Osmanthus Flowers blooming everywhere in August; 八月桂花遍地开 and Gong Xi Fa Cai; 恭喜发财。
