'Journey to the stage' intra-society solo competition

Group photo with the winners, event organizing teams, advisor, judges and supporters.

20 February 2011 is the day where our first ever intra-society solo competition was held successfully.

Is a great experience for all participants and members of the orchestra. There were lots of very good performances from our strings, winds and pluckings which, well....stood out.

Emcees of the day

I personally found this event very meaningful and memorable as it truly served its purpose.
As part of the big family, i'm font with all the participants
especially to those who only joined the orchestra this year(you know who you are).
Two thumbs up to your dedication with us.

The beginning of the event was marked by our plucking family followed by wind and string families.....
.......bla bla bla bla......

Well, is kinda hard for me to describe the flow of the event right now because i'm drowning in a sea of photos
So to put it simple, i'll just let the photos do the talking.

Below are photos of our contestants taken during the competition.....

Plucking: Beginner category and Intermediate category

Plucking: Advanced category

Wind: Beginner category

Wind: Intermediate category

String: Advanced category

Looking cool huh?

The finalists were announced after the lunch session and
is kind of a nerves-wrecking session for some of the contestants. Don't believe me? See for yourself then.

The finalists of the day.  Who's that crying???

Anyway, after the heart racing moment for our contestants, the event carried on with the final round.

Seen here were part of the finalists concentrating on delivering theirs best.

Final round contestants giving their best.

Techniques. Focus. Being knowledgeable on the music played.

Keypoints of solo instrumental playing.

Judges of the day

and finally the winners were announced.....So, well done everyone who has taken part, even if you didn't win,
you still made a valuable contribution to the orchestra.

Winners of the day

The event ended with a nice touching speech from our first prize winner of the plucking advanced category, Mr. Liew Zhian Ming and also the organizing chairman of this event, Mr. Ryan Choon.

Mr.Liew Zhian Ming sharing his story

Well, i believe what they'd shared at the very last session of this event
will continues to haunt the memory of those who has a heart for music. You just have to be there and listen to theirs thought so i'm not doing a cloning of what they'd said here.

Too bad, my camera run out of memory. It would have be good to share their thoughts here.

I'll end this post with a short video clip of Mr. Liew Zhian Ming playing the guzheng.

Enjoys~~~!!!!
